United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People
143 nations around the world support the rights of Aboriginal people - only Australia, the United States, Canada and New Zealand refused to sign. It recognises "the urgent need to respect and promote the rights and characteristics of indigenous peoples, especially their rights to their lands, territories and resources, which derive from their political, economic and social structures and from their cultures, spiritual traditions, histories and philosophies".

Report of the Select Committee on Reserves
On 13th June 2003 the Gallop Government used unfounded claims of abuse to force us from our Ancestral Home. This Report outlines everything that happened and the wrong done to us. [Note: this document was mysteriously deleted from the Western Australian Parliament website]
REPORT OF THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON RESERVES (RESERVE 43131) BILL 2003 IN RELATION TO THE RESERVES (RESERVE 43131) BILL 2003
Where is Gallop now?
In 2003 the Gallop Government shut down the Swan Valley Nyungah Community and made the people homeless. The Report of the Upper House Select Committee on Reserves (Reserve 43131) Bill 2003 found that Premier Gallop's decision 'to act rapidly, by-passing all normal processes, was justified on false information'. In 1835, on the eve of Foundation Day celebrations in the early Colony of Perth, Edward Gallop (the brother of Geoff's great-great-grandfather) was an accessory to the shooting of Gogalee and Narrall (the sons of Yellagonga and Munday, respectively). Gogalee was shot in the head while he slept. Perth Gazette, 6 June 1835. In the following year Edward Gallop was working as a labourer in York. In a statement taken down and marked with a cross, Gallop admitted to hiding in the rafters of a barn, and shooting Nyungahs who were stealing flour: "I saw two natives in the barn and one at the door. The two that were in the barn were emptying a bag of flour into a blanket and the one outside was watching the house. I fired at the two who were in the barn and one fell. He was shot through the head and died shortly afterwards." CSO 1836, 48.51 Deposition of E. Gallop. Battye Library. After quitting his job as Premier in 2006 on the grounds that he was suffering from depression he was given a $2.3 million lump sum payout and still benefits from taxpayer funded perks ($50,000 in the last financial year according to Sunday Times 02/03/08). This website shows that Gallop is now on Noel Pearson's Cape York Institute Board of Directors. Pearson was a supporter of ex-Prime Minister Howard's armed invasion of Aboriginal Communities in Central Australia in June 2007.
